Yesterday I drove to yoga with my windows down, the air still warm enough even though the sun was setting. The sky was releasing it's hold on dull, silver, winter hues. It was striped in shades of indigo, cobalt, and turquoise. The sun streaked the sky with ribbons of orange and pink. And while I know winter is far from over, I could feel the subtle shift in the seasons, as we move away from darkness and into light.
We know that more cold weather is coming. There will be more snow and dreary days. But we all know that the end point is well within sight: we all can feel the warmth, beauty, and hope that spring brings to us. You can almost taste it.
My practice these last few months has been slow, steady, quiet. I have craved ease and warmth, I have wanted to nurture and be nurtured. The wheel of the year keeps turning, and so does our yoga. I can feel my personal practice become more vigorous, I find myself craving big, gorgeous, heart-opening backbends. I want lots of standing postures. I want to build heat and welcome the sun back to our lives!
I look forward to seeing you in class. Let's welcome spring together.
